Ceremony at Zappeion Megaron organized by the Euro-American Women's Council, with the presence representatives from the political, financial and cultural world of the country

On the occassion of the 13th Annual Forum of the Euro-American Women's Council, on June 15, important personalites received the Artemis Award as a recognition of their contribution to the promotion of culture, science and the raise of the human spirit and raise in general.  Demetrios Kastanas, editor of the ESEIS Magazine and owner of the National Greek TV Channel (NGTV), was among them and received an award for his long lasting contribution to the purpose of information dissemination and the promotion of hellenism in the U.S.

the Artemis awards were been awarded by the EAWC, while the event has been under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture of Greece.  The EAWC's president, Ms. Loula Alafoyannis noted that this award was given to distinguished personalities which serve as examples to society and pave the way for the future generations, and for a better understanding among cultures.

Ms. Alafoyannis praised especially Mr. Kastanas' work underlining that he has been the voice of the Greeks in the U.S. for more than 34 years, as well as he has contributed to fund-raisers and other social purposes.

Regarding the members of the EAWC, Ms. Alafoyanni emphasized that women from all over the U.S. visited Greece in order to raise their voice regarding all major global issues, as well as some domestic, cultural ones, such as the issue of the return of the Parthenon Marbles back to Greece.

Among the celebrities that were present at the awards ceremony, we can mention but a few: the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Theodore Kasimis, the ex-Minister of Finance and ex-Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Petros Doukas, the Deputy Mayor of Athens, Ms. Sofi Daskalakou-Mitilinaiou, and the publisher and ex-Member of the Parliament, Ms. Elena Koundoura etc."
